MTP conversion patch cords are designed to provide greater flexibility for MTP®-based cabling systems. Unlike MTP breakout patch cords, MTP conversion patch cords are terminated with MTP® connectors on both ends, offering more possibilities for existing 8-fiber cabling systems.

In the MTP-12 APC to 2xMTP-4 APC conversion patch cord, the MTP-12 connector only uses 8 active fibers of the MTP®-12 for transmission, with the remaining 4 unused.

The MTP-4 connector only uses 4 active fibers of the MTP-12 for transmission, with the remaining 8 unused. It is designed to connect 4 200G NVIDIA InfiniBand OSFP/QSFP56/QSFP112 optical modules to an 800G NVIDIA InfiniBand dual-port OSFP optical module. Compared to purchasing and installing conversion boxes separately, using MTP conversion patch cords is a more cost-effective and lower-loss option.
