MTP conversion patch cords are designed to provide greater flexibility for MTP-based cabling systems. Unlike MTP breakout patch cords, MTP conversion patch cords use MTP connectors on both ends and can offer more possibilities for existing 8-fiber cabling systems.
In the MTP-12 APC to 2xMTP-4 APC conversion patch cord, the MTP-12 connector uses only 8 active fibers of the MTP-12 for transmission, leaving the remaining 4 fibers unused.
The MTP-4 connector only uses 4 active fibers from the MTP-12 for transmission, leaving the other 8 fibers unused. It is designed to connect four 200G NVIDIA InfiniBand OSFP/QSFP56/QSFP112 optical modules to an 800G NVIDIA InfiniBand dual-port OSFP optical module. Compared with separately purchasing and installing a conversion box, using an MTP conversion patch cord is a more cost-effective and lower-loss option.
