This NVIDIA/Mellanox cable is an 800Gb/s dual-port OSFP to 2×400Gb/s dual-port OSFP InfiniBand
NDR dual-breakout active high-speed cable. The 8-lane dual-port OSFP end features a top-heatsink
package, suitable for Quantum-2 and Spectrum-4 switch chassis. The two 400G endpoints support
4-lane 100G-PAM4 (400G) with a flat-top OSFP package, designed for ConnectX-7 network adapters
equipped with heatsinks on the connectors. The cable complies with OSFP MSA and IEEE 802.3ck
standards. Active copper cables deliver the lowest latency and are widely deployed in data centers to connect
servers and GPU computing systems to TOR switches, as well as to link spine switches to super-spine
switches within racks over short cable lengths. They are also used to build InfiniBand storage fabrics
with hard disk drive (HDD) and flash memory subsystems. Featuring a simple design and minimal components, active copper cables represent a low-cost,
low-latency, low-power high-speed interconnect solution second only to passive high-speed cables.
This cable enhances port bandwidth, density and configurability for supercomputers and hyperscale
systems while reducing power consumption requirements.
