This NVIDIA/Mellanox cable is an active breakout optical cable for 200Gb/s QSFP56 to 2x100Gb/s QSFP56 HDR InfiniBand. It adopts Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable 56 (QSFP56) optical modules, containing 4 pairs of high-speed copper pairs, each supporting data transmission rates up to 50Gb/s. The cable complies with QSFP56 MSA and IEEE 802.3 standards.


The optical cable provides data centers with higher port bandwidth, density and configurability, along with lower cost and power consumption, and is widely used in cloud computing and supercomputers. In addition, the cable is widely used to connect NVIDIA GPU-based systems to InfiniBand networks and InfiniBand storage networks.


Compared with optical modules, optical cables offer more cost-effective advantages of low cost and high reliability. Compared with high-speed cables, optical cables are lighter and more flexible, providing better airflow support and longer transmission distances.
